Dr. Paul Spagnuolo is a Professor in the Department of Food Science, University of Guelph. His laboratory discovers and develops food-derived bioactive molecules (i.e., nutraceuticals) as prophylactics and therapeutics for metabolic diseases. His group has discovered eight novel nutraceuticals, filed four patents, completed two clinical trials, and commercialized one product. With an h-index of 29, his research is published in top journals and is supported by national and international agencies.
Dr. Spagnuolo has received national and international recognitions for his contributions to food bioactives and health. He is the editor of “Nutraceuticals and Human Health: The Food-to-supplement Paradigm” a book published by the Royal Society of Chemistry, a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Natural Health Product Research, Associate Editor for Nutrition Reviews, and founder of SP Nutraceuticals Inc, which commercializes products developed by his laboratory.
